Writers Guild of America on strike
I was wondering how the Writers Guild strike would go—the mechanics of it, I mean. In a writers strike, do writers actually stop writing? Apparently. There are still picket lines (Guild members each have to commit 20 hours a week manning the lines), but the knife in the heart is a ‘Script Validation Program’ that’s supposed to ensure all writing (of ‘literary material’) stops for the duration of the strike. John Ridley thinks the whole thing is a tad Orwellian, and I’m inclined to agree.
